As Morocco continues to attract a new generation of international travellers, accommodation providers and tourism businesses have a unique opportunity to benefit from evolving travel behaviours and growing demand. Delivered by Hostelworld, the world's leading hostel-focused booking platform, this session is designed for accommodation providers, tourism operators and destination stakeholders looking to better understand today's social traveller and turn industry trends into business opportunities.
During this practical workshop, participants will learn:
The Taghazout region is full of surf accommodation of exceptional quality. Yet many establishments remain unclassified, even though their facilities fully meet the standards. With the latest decrees now in force, the rules have changed: by June 2027, all establishments, whether already classified or not, will have to be reclassified under a brand-new system.
This workshop is aimed at surf camp owners, hostel managers, accommodation providers and project developers from the region who want a clear picture. On the agenda:
As part of drawing up the specifications for the management of surfing and dedicated beaches, the Regional Tourism Development Company (SDRT), in consultation with the Royal Moroccan Surfing Federation (FRMS), has launched a consultation process with sector professionals.
Several meetings, held with the support of the Taghazout Surf Expo Association, made it possible to gather the views of surfers, schools, clubs and local operators in order to enrich the official specifications submitted by the SDRT. The consolidated document combines institutional provisions with realities on the ground, and is designed to be professional, structuring and adaptable. It applies equally to sporting and non-profit practice and to commercial tourism practice, thereby covering the entire ecosystem.
Guarantee the physical safety of practitioners, instructors and coastal users through strict standards for supervision, equipment and risk management.
Professionalise the sector by clarifying the status, obligations and operating methods of each stakeholder (sports associations, surf schools, tourism businesses).
Frame the economic development so that it respects the marine and coastal environment, is socially responsible and integrates into regional strategies.
During this workshop, the SDRT will present these specifications and open a constructive debate with local stakeholders to co-build a lasting model, serving a safe, attractive and sustainable coastline.
