The Royal Moroccan Surfing Federation (FRMS) is harnessing digital tools and artificial intelligence to support the development of Moroccan surfing. During two master classes, get a first look at two apps designed in Morocco, one for coaches, the other for competitive surfers.
Each session presents the tool, walks you through its features step by step and helps you get up and running quickly.
Helping a surfer progress takes more than occasional observation: you need to know their strengths, identify what they need to work on and follow their development over time. FRMS Training Manager, the first AI-powered athlete tracking tool, supports coaches and assistant coaches in this day-to-day work.
The platform lets coaches build an evolving profile for each athlete (technique, power, strengths) and use AI video analysis to correct movements and lines. Coaches can then offer more tailored guidance and show surfers concrete evidence of their progress and the moves to improve. The goal: to give clubs and the Federation a shared tracking framework that serves both training and performance.
A result, a ranking, a qualification: every step counts in a surfer's journey. With Rider Zone, a true digital passport for surfers, the FRMS brings all this information together in a profile dedicated to competitive surfers.
The app provides live rankings, performance history, registration for Opens, competition eligibility and grant tracking. Administrative procedures are handled entirely online, from request to final approval: support requests, ranking certificates and participation certificates.
For athletes, it is a simple way to see where they stand and track their progress season after season. For clubs and the Federation, it offers better visibility on the careers of Moroccan talent.
This year, Taghazout Surf Expo opens a Shaping Area at the heart of the Expo. Visitors are invited to take a close look at how a surfboard is made, from shaping to glassing, sanding and finishing, alongside master shapers Thierry Delbourg and Tarik Zrilida.
Two personalities, two experiences and a shared passion for the craft, brought together to share their know-how live with visitors.
The Live Shaping Experience features two dedicated sessions inside the Shaping Space:
To open the experience, Thierry Delbourg shares his vision of shaping: how a board's shape is designed and what difference it makes once on the wave.
Time for practice: over two days, Thierry Delbourg and Tarik Zrilida shape boards live and reveal every step of the process. A unique opportunity to watch the craftsmen at work, chat with them and discover what makes a great board.
Meet the two master artisans presenting and leading this live shaping experience:
Originally from Morocco, Thierry Delbourg has been shaping since 1979. From Morocco to Reunion Island, he has crafted over 5,600 boards, including some for Tom Curren, Jérémy Flores and Jorgann Couzinet. Committed to the next generation, he has sponsored more than ten young Moroccan surfers, including champion Lilias Tebbai.
Based in Tamraght, Tarik Zrilida is a leading figure of handcrafted shaping in Morocco. He shapes every board by hand, from the first line to the finish, working closely with surfers to match their level, style and waves. With the Moroccan Surf Factory, his new project, he invites everyone to build their own custom board, from the blank to the finishing touches.
