The 2025 edition of the Share My Experience program highlights the transmission of surf heritage and the promotion of women’s roles. Soukaina Iraqui, a committed Moroccan educator, and Tasha Mentasti, an ISA expert and key figure in the development of surfing in Africa, embody the strength and resilience of women who sustain and pass on this culture. Alongside them, Saad Abid, a pioneer in environmental and civic engagement in Morocco, recognized for his ability to mobilize young people around coastal protection issues, completes this inspiring trio. Together, they offer exemplary paths that nurture the surf community and inspire future generations.

Saad Abid: Civic Engagement and Coastal Protection

Founder of the Bahri association, Saad Abid is a pioneer of environmental and civic activism in Morocco. Known for his contagious energy and ability to mobilize young people, he has been leading innovative initiatives for over fifteen years to raise awareness about coastal protection and the fight against plastic pollution. A passionate surfer and ocean ambassador, he uses sport and social media as powerful tools to inspire collective action and bring citizens closer to environmental issues. His projects — combining creativity, education, and community participation — have made him a key figure in Moroccan environmental activism, capable of transforming individual commitment into a collective movement.

The Bahri Association is a partner of the Beach Clean Up & Connect (Taghazout Surf Expo x Bahri Association x Unplugged Social Club), taking place right after the 3:00–3:30pm session and then every day from 11:30am to 12:00pm and from 4:00pm to 4:30pm (more information).

Soukaina Iraqui: Turning Waves into Opportunities

Moroccan surfer and young entrepreneur, Soukaina Iraqui is the first woman from the Rabat region to obtain official certification from the Royal Moroccan Surf Federation. Passionate about surfing for over 15 years, she is preparing the launch of Wave After Wave Surfhouse, an eco-friendly and inclusive project aimed at making surfing more accessible in Morocco. A mother of two, she travels with her family in search of adventures combining surf, nature, and culture. Thanks to her engineering background and perseverance, she has successfully turned her passion into a project and inspires the next generation by showing that it is possible to balance family, work, and passion.

Tasha Mentasti: Leadership, Inclusion, and Passion for Surfing

Regional Director for Africa at the World Surf League and recognized ISA expert, Tasha Mentasti is a leading figure in African surfing. With over 30 years of experience as a competitor, coach, judge, and international event director, she combines technical expertise, strategic vision, and pedagogy. Committed to mentoring young generations, she works to make African surfing more inclusive and diverse, while promoting women’s role in the sport and positively transforming coastal communities through her leadership and boundless passion.
